What’s the Right Temperature?

Check the temperature setting on your water heater. It should be set no higher than 120°F to prevent scalding and reduce energy use. Here in Texas you don’t need as much energy to heat your water heater in the summer since its so hot.
Also, spring is a good time to carefully drain several gallons from the water heater tank to flush out corrosion causing sediment, which reduces heating efficiency and shortens the life of the heater. Most water heaters last 8-12 years.

I really like this post. It makes me want to get Brian to check my water heater settings.
